The method people use to get certified for scuba diving nowadays is e-learning. You can do all the academics online before going on vacation and the fun part in Belizean waters.
Las Terrazas has a gorgeous pool and use the popular dive sites for the 4 training dives. The process involves you for two days. The e-learners can do the pool before the trip on the 1st and they can incorporate the Dive as one of the 4 training dives for the certification. The remaining dives can be done the next day at a shallow dive in the marine reserve.
PADI E-Learning: (varies according to where you live) ~$180/person
Las Terrazas fee for pool training: $380/person
Full Open Water Course (all done at Las Terrazas, without e-learning): $485/person (real value: e-learning saves a whole day of vacation time).
